How To Add Forwarder Email To Domain Email

Published by msaufong under Hosting, Webmaster

I have few different domain email address. Management those email account could be very painful if you do not use forwarding features. Could you imagine how hassle it be to log on to different email account every day? And you might need to check the email more than once a day!
Usually I will set the forwarding features in the domain when I create an email address. I will forward all the email to my mail email account, so that all email will reach me with one log in only. Here is the step to add the forwarding email.

Log on to the domain control panel and click on the Mail Icon.

Then select the FORWARDERS.

type the email you want the email go to in the column and click ADD FORWARDER.

Here is the bigger screenshot. Key in your email address and the email you want to receive allt he email. That’s all!

Log In To Domain Email

Published by msaufong under Hosting, Webmaster

If you have created many email address in the domain, I think you will have to access your domain email by enter through the Mail Icon but not Webmail. I think you would laugh at me if I told you how do I log in to my mail.

I spent long time to search here and there but could not find the way to log in to other emails. Everytime I click on the webmail it automatic lead me to the main email. After few times of testing, I finally know that I should log on to other emails address by the mail icon but not webmail.

Click on the Mail icon.

Now you can see all your email address listed here. Select the one you want to log in and click on webmail.

key in your password and login.

Select the webmail agent to view your mail.

Here you are in the webmail already. :p

Backup or Export Database Before Move Server

Published by msaufong under Hosting, Webmaster

I missed the most important step when I wrote the simple step to move server. What a forgetful me. WARNING! Backup the database before move your server, I strongly suggest you back up all the file in server too.

Here is the step on how to backup or export database using phpMyAdmin. You could log in to your phpMyAdmin through the control panel -> MySQL Account Maintenance. You would get the link at the bottom of page.

After log in to the phpMyAdmin, select the database you want to export/backup at the left hand side.

Then click on the Export Tab. Select all the wp_, marked the SQL and Add Drop Table.

Click “save as” and set your file name to save the database.

You should know what to do next without my explanation, right?

Next post will be how to import the database to new server. This is extremely easy if you already know how to export database.

Simple Step To Move Server

Published by msaufong under Hosting, Webmaster

Here is the simple step to move server. Step is easy but the backup, download and upload file from old server to new server is take time, and have to wait for a correct time to set DNS setting.

Backup all the file in the old server, I only know how to use ftp to backup the file. I will download all the file to my PC.

Upload all the necessary file to new server first.

Backup the database. See how to backup database using phpmyadmin here.

Change the DNS at Domain registered account after you confirmed have backup all the file in old server and uploaded all necessary file to the new server. For me, I prefer to move my server in holiday time or the time I do not need to online for at least 1 or 2 days.

How To Change Your DNS Setting

Published by msaufong under Hosting, Webmaster

The most important part to move server is to change your domain DNS Setting. When I first purchase my own domain, I do not even know where to change the DNS until I asked my online friend about it. You can manage DNS Setting in the account where you held the domain registration only.

You have to search for DNS admin / DNS Setting / NameServer to change the NameServer 1 and 2 and pointed to your new server DNS. The configuration usually will take up to few hours to few days depends on the server speed. I have tried to change the DNS setting to two different hosting before, one was took about 2 – 3 days and the other one just few hours time to finish configuration.

I strongly advice you do not post or change your website after pointed to New DNS server, wait for few days to secure the new server has take over and all the new post will go the new server but not old server.

Move Server Is Not Difficult

Published by msaufong under Hosting, Webmaster

Many people think that moving server is very troublesome. Some of them might not really know how to start to do it also. I have tried to move my hosting 2 months ago, I am very happy because I finally have successful moved all the file to new server by my own. I was worry on how to move Hosting server before that. I have save few bucks to ask for technician to do it.

Anyway, the process was not as difficult as I though before, but everything have to process carefully. After moved all the file to new server, you are unable to get back to old server after new DNS setting has take turn. (Not sure is correct or not, because I have not find any way to log in to my old server and dig some file  )

I will write a post on how to move server later on. Let me snap more screenshot first.
