Atlanta has been selected by CNN as one of the top cities in the US for retirement! Quiet, safe neighborhoods, little farmhouses dotting the beautiful rolling hills and countryside, old oak trees….For recreation, Atlanta have Stone Mountain Park on the south end of the county, featuring a lake with a beach and “river boat”, a skylift to the top of the mountain, the Lazer Show in the summer, the light show in the winter. To the north, there is Lake Lanier and Lake Lanier Islands Resort!To the west, along the county line, is the Chattahoochee River.
And the conveniences to three major shopping malls: Northlake (Tucker), Gwinnett Place (Duluth), and the fabulous new Mall of Georgia in Buford! There’s also the Gwinnett Civic Center in Duluth, which is a lovely place for a play, concert, art exhibit or other event.

Thought I would add an update to your post on Atlanta. The city is still growing, even though the economy and mortgage lenders have tightened things up a bit. High end Lake Lanier property is still doing well and it’s completely understandable if you are familiar with the beauty of this Lake. Yes, we’ve has some lake level issues, but with almost 800 miles of lakeshore, there’s still a lot left of Lake Lanier to enjoy. I’ve lived up at the lake for the last few years and I can’t imagine ever leaving. Thanks for touting this area on your Blog!
